Trail HAPPENINGS June 2026

Steward Moab
by Anna Sprout, Executive Director, Steward Moab
What is Steward Moab?

Steward Moab is a newly established nonprofit organization created to continue and expand the Moab Trail Ambassador Program. Its leadership team is the same group that built the Moab Trail Ambassador Program into an award-winning, nationally and globally recognized model for visitor engagement, stewardship, and community collaboration. As a result, the program’s long-standing partnerships, trusted relationships, and collaborative leadership approach remain firmly in place as Steward Moab moves forward.

Steward Moab leadership has helped launch a variety of projects that support Moab’s recreation community and improve the dissemination of important visitor information. These efforts include the Back From Beyond Podcast, a visitor planning video tool, the Moab Guide Summit, and a regional human waste education initiative - each designed to assist the community in enhancing visitor experiences and protect the landscape that makes the Moab area unique.

Back from Beyond Podcast — Season 2 is Coming! Season 2 of the Back from Beyond Podcast is on its way, and this time YOU get to help shape it! The podcast shines a spotlight on the incredible work of Grand County Search and Rescue, and we’re currently fundraising to bring the next season to life. Right now the community favorite is a mountain bike episode — but is that really what YOU want to hear about? Now’s your chance to weigh in and pick the next story! Head to the link below to donate and cast your vote for the episode you want to hear. Every dollar counts toward making Season 2 happen.

Volunteer Day: Help Build Our OHV/4x4 Spill Kits! Join us on June 17th & 18th from 8:30AM – 2:30PM at 125 W 200 S to help assemble OHV/4x4 Spill Kits — essential tools in our Trail Ambassador program that connect with thousands of trail users across Moab’s motorized trail network.

Volunteers will earn their very own spill kit to take home, and remember — every minute counts! Come for an hour or five, we’re just happy for the hands. See you there!

A huge thank you to the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation OHV Recreation Grant and the Family Motor Coach Association for sponsoring this round of kits.

Want to get your logo on a spill kit and show your commitment to Moab’s trails? Reach out at sponsor@stewardmoab.com.

Trail Mix Updates

Bike Bus Report
The Bike Bus has been an incredible success — and as the school year wraps up, the excitement is far from over. Our first run was a blast, bringing together 30–40 kids and parents who rode all the way to school with an energy that was absolutely contagious — kids on bikes, e-bikes, and even rollerblades, parents pedaling alongside them, music blasting, and smiles all around. What made it truly special was seeing families who don’t typically ride getting out and joining in, proving that the Bike Bus is about so much more than transportation — it’s about community, joy, and building healthy habits together.

The plan is to kick things back off on the first Friday of the new school year and keep it going on a regular basis from there. So enjoy your summer, keep those wheels spinning, and get ready — the Bike Bus will be back and better than ever.

Trail Work Wednesday: June 3, 2026 at Anonymous Bike Park
The May Trail Work Wednesday was a great success — thank you to everyone who came out and got their hands dirty alongside the incredible team behind Moab’s world-class trails!

The next Trail Work Wednesday is coming up this June, hosted by Moab Trail Mix and Grand County Active Transportation & Trails (GCATT). These events take place on the first Wednesday of every month and bring the local volunteer community together to support non-motorized trail work across the board — from mountain biking and hiking to climbing access, equestrian trails, and everything in between.

The next Trail Work Wednesday is just around the corner! Join Moab Trail Mix and Grand County Active Transportation & Trails (GCATT) on June 3rd from 5–7PM at Anonymous Bike Park, located across from the hospital. This one is extra exciting — volunteers will be helping install brand new benches, weeding the area, and getting our community bike park ready to ride! It’s a great opportunity to give back and see the results of your hard work firsthand.

Whether you’re a seasoned trail builder or picking up a tool for the first time, all are welcome. Mark your calendars, bring your gloves, and come be part of building Moab’s trails!

What is the Moab Trail Mix Committee?
The Moab Trail Mix Committee is a Grand County advisory body dedicated to the development, maintenance, and stewardship of non-motorized trails throughout the Moab region. Open to the public, the committee unites trail users, community members, and agency partners — including the BLM, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and Utah State Parks — to collaboratively plan and build trails serving hikers, mountain bikers, climbers, equestrians, and more. Over the years, the committee has helped shape hundreds of miles of trails that have made Moab a globally recognized outdoor destination, from beginner-friendly networks to world-class technical routes. The committee meets the second Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Grand Center, 182 N. 500 W., Moab. All are welcome.
