What is Steward Moab?
Steward Moab is a newly established nonprofit organization created to continue and expand the Moab Trail Ambassador Program. Its leadership team is the same group that built the Moab Trail Ambassador Program into an award-winning, nationally and globally recognized model for visitor engagement, stewardship, and community collaboration. As a result, the program’s long-standing partnerships, trusted relationships, and collaborative leadership approach remain firmly in place as Steward Moab moves forward.
Steward Moab leadership has helped launch a variety of projects that support Moab’s recreation community and improve the dissemination of important visitor information. These efforts include the Back From Beyond Podcast, a visitor planning video tool, the Moab Guide Summit, and a regional human waste education initiative - each designed to assist the community in enhancing visitor experiences and protect the landscape that makes the Moab area unique.

SUCCESS!! Spring Spruce Up — 2-Day Event Recap
Hosted by Moab Trail Mix Committee, Steward Moab and Grand County Active Transportation & Trails
What a weekend! The Spring Spruce Up brought our community together over two unforgettable days — from the big screen to the trail — celebrating adaptive successes, trail work, stewardship, and everything that makes Moab special.
At the heart of every successful event is partnership — and this weekend was proof of that. None of this happens without the collaboration, generosity, and shared vision of our sponsors, volunteers, organizations, and community members who show up and give their all. We’re excited to keep building year after year, and we’re grateful for every person who is part of this journey!
Day 1 — Best Day Ever Film Screening | April 10, 2026
Thursday evening kicked things off in the best way possible. Steward Moab, in partnership with the Kelly Brush Foundation, hosted a screening of the award-winning documentary Best Day Ever — and over 50 people came out to connect, share space, and celebrate the spirit of adaptive outdoor access.
Greg Durso and his team were genuinely grateful to be in Moab, and that warmth was felt throughout the room. Following the film, Greg joined local trail designer Tyson Swasey for a live panel discussion that sparked real, meaningful conversation about the future of adaptive trail development right here in our backyard. The energy was electric — a true reminder of what happens when film, community, and purpose come together.
Moab is growing as a destination committed to expanding outdoor access for all, and evenings like this remind us exactly why that work matters. Thank you to everyone who came out — and to those already fired up to continue the work ahead.

Day 2 — Volunteer Work Day
Day 2 was hosted by the Moab Trail Mix Committee and Grand County Active Transportation & Trails — and what a day they delivered. Over 90 volunteers showed up ready to get their hands dirty and give back to the trails and places we love. We were especially thrilled by the incredible turnout from the University of Utah — their energy and enthusiasm helped make the day a massive success.
Across 8 projects, volunteers collectively contributed 4,320 hours of service — a powerful reflection of this community’s dedication to stewardship, and vital support for our ongoing grant funding efforts.
None of it would have been possible without our generous sponsors and partners:

We can’t wait to see you next year!

Bike Bus
The Bike Bus is officially rolling — and the community response has been nothing short of amazing. The first run was a huge success, drawing a group of 30–40 kids and parents who gathered and rode together all the way to school. The energy was infectious — kids on bikes, e-bikes, and even rollerblades, parents pedaling alongside them, music blasting, and smiles all around. What made it truly special was seeing families who don’t typically ride getting out and joining in, proving that the Bike Bus is about so much more than transportation — it’s about community, joy, and building healthy habits together. The word is out, and excitement is only growing.
E-Bike Legislation Update — Utah HB0381
Utah’s HB0381 brings important clarification to e-bike classification and use across the state. The law establishes a clear definition of what qualifies as a legal e-bike — pedal-assisted, 750W or less, and unable to exceed 20 mph under motor power alone — while reclassifying higher-powered throttle-heavy bikes as electric motorcycles subject to registration, insurance, and licensing requirements. For riders on standard Class 1, 2, or 3 e-bikes, day-to-day riding is largely unaffected. The legislation also introduces new safety course requirements for riders under 18 and adults without a driver’s license, expands helmet requirements to riders under 21, and prohibits modifications that push bikes beyond legal limits. Overall, HB0381 provides a clearer, more consistent framework for e-bike use on Utah’s roads and trails — a foundation our community can work with as e-bikes continue to grow as a transportation and recreation option in Moab and beyond.
Trail Work Wednesday — May 6th at Navajo Rocks
Moab Trail Mix and Grand County Active Transportation & Trails (GCATT) are hosting the next Trail Work Wednesday on May 6th at 4:30PM at the middle Navajo Rocks parking lot!
Come out and get your hands on the trails — this day will focus on delineating singletrack alongside the talented team behind Moab’s world-class mountain bike trails. It’s an opportunity to connect directly with the people who have shaped the riding we all love.
Trail Work Wednesdays are hosted by the Moab Trail Mix Committee on the first Wednesday of every month, bringing the local volunteer community together to support non-motorized trail work across the board — from mountain biking and hiking to climbing access, equestrian trails, and everything in between. Whether you’re a seasoned trail builder or picking up a tool for the first time, all are welcome.
Mark your calendars, bring your gloves, and come be part of building Moab’s trails!
What is the Moab Trail Mix Committee?
The Moab Trail Mix Committee is a Grand County advisory body dedicated to the development, maintenance, and stewardship of non-motorized trails throughout the Moab region. Open to the public, the committee unites trail users, community members, and agency partners — including the BLM, U.S. Forest Service, National Park Service, and Utah State Parks — to collaboratively plan and build trails serving hikers, mountain bikers, climbers, equestrians, and more. Over the years, the committee has helped shape hundreds of miles of trails that have made Moab a globally recognized outdoor destination, from beginner-friendly networks to world-class technical routes.
The committee meets the second Tuesday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Grand Center, 182 N. 500 W., Moab. All are welcome.
